Growing Empowered Minds in Spanish. Our mission is to cultivate Spanish Bilingual Spaces of Language for African American Students to feel confident in development of their  second language. 

GEMS seeks to further enhance the lives of Afro-Latinos, Black-Americans, and African-identifying students who seek to develop their identity in the Spanish language.

We intend to uplift and encourage our youth to build pride in bilingualism. We seek to collaborate with a community of partners to provide spaces of strength and dedication to speaking the second language with confidence. 

We hope to immerse ourselves in language through lessons and travel. We  will teach our young way makers to use language as tools for success and that a second language is your superpower.
